From the other videos some people seem to have gotten the impression that there are no cars nor children in Utrecht. But of course they are both there. It is just a matter of where you look and at what time.

This video was taken on a Wednesday afternoon, schools are closed on Wednesday afternoons in the Netherlands so plenty of children on their way. Also a lot of students riding around the city at that time. No people going to and coming from their work, but besides these commuters there are a lot of other groups of people using their bikes in the Netherlands too. As can be seen.

  • god ,children cycling in the middle of the road.l wish l lived here. bicycle heaven

  • @NewtonotweN

Amsterdam takes a bit of getting used to!

  • @covidiu Helmet debate aside, I do find it interesting that the three or four Dutch people I know (and who live here in Los Angeles) agree that cycling is too dangerous in this city.

  • @markenlei I can almost hear the Americans gasping for air: OMG, there are chidren in the middle of the intersection with no helmets on. :D

  • @NewtonotweN Even in A'dam, it's not bad. There are very few cars compared to other capitals, because many streets in the center are closed to cars and parking fees are pretty high.

Of course if you're talking about bicycles, that's a different story altogether. :D They have very little patience for tourists stepping on the cycle paths and not paying attention.

  • @NewtonotweN I am glad you picked up the irony. And I fully agree, but people do seem to base a lot on just some videos they see.

  • I like how organized the traffic is there. The conditions are also great for riding a bike...
