This vocal group was originally comprised of three guys and a gal from a suburb of Detroit who liked to hang around a recording studio doing background vocals hoping for a chance to record on their own. They got their chance when recording artist Edwin "Agent Double-O-Soul" Starr wrote a tune and had them record it. The song was "Oh, How Happy", and the group now calling themselves 'Shades of Blue" had themselves a Top 20 hit in May of 1966.

  • So, what's with the '58 AMI buried in the sand (I actually own one, but I prefer to keep mine in our dining room).

  • @tbirdtim This is just a photo by which I end most of the Carolina Beach Music videos (of which I have posted several hundred).

  • Linda and Bobby from the Shades of Blue are my parents. :) I'm so very proud of their accomplishments! Right after I was born, the song hit the top 100 and they started touring with Dick Clark. I stayed with my dads parents when they toured. My mom loves reading all the wonderful comments and although my dad passed away 5 years ago, I know he would be THRILLED as well! He loved music and The Shades of Blue was his heart. Thank you all for your kind comments...I'm a very proud daughter!!

  • @ShellyBean1966 By the way, I'm sorry to hear about your dad. I had no idea. Thank your mother for me for the many hours of listening pleasure for not only myself, but the fans of this YouTube Channel...Lanny (Nocaro on YouTube).

  • @ShellyBean1966 I hope you didn't mind, but I've pasted your comment here to my Facebook Page. I have been amazed at the many comments from the sons and daughters (and grandsons and granddaughters) appreciative of reading the feedback from the artists involved with many of the recordings I have posted. Even several of the artists have taken the time to comment including LLoyd Price, Bobby Rydell, Dion, New Christy Minstrels, Lenny Welch, et. al. If I were you I'd feel the same way.
