Liberty, Carlos Funk Version

Steve James showed me his version of this tune, after seeing my take and telling me that I had too many fingers on the guitar. So I took a few off, added some of my own riffs, and practiced like gangbusters. This song is very meaningful to me because I think it'd be a different country with an anthem like this. Imagine the people boogieing to this at the ball parks. Maybe we can still change it. For me, "Jose, can you see?" just doesn't make it.

Hey thanks! That particular song is in drop D tuning....tuning the low string down a full step to D. I do use that tuning a lot and my next video, coming out soon, The Bachelor Blues, is in that tuning a well.

@Coppulor Thanks so much....my next vid which will be up shortly....just a few more scenes to film and drop in....will show more of the right hand, but you can't really tell what it's doing that much. Better to download it, put it on GOM player or something similar, and listen to it slow....it's basically alternating the bottom three strings with the thumb.

After just finishing Ben Franklin's autobiography last week I have to say..If he chose this as our anthem..he definitely had groove... my mother was a missionary in Guatemala and loved it there..It looks beautiful!

dear carlos,

its me devin. me and my mate brian wondered into your establishment about 11 months ago, you played music for us while we drank and ate and then you gave us a ride most of the way to antigua. well me and brian were sitting around thanksgiving dinner and talking about how easy it would be to get away for a long weekend to guatemala and visit some friends. thanks for all the great music and kindness, maybe we will see you next year sometime.
