The game is about national pride. The average wage is less than $10 a month, and people live only half as long as western countries. The horses by contrast are well cared for, well trained, and are on loan from the rich. They are not work animals, are worth between $1000 and $10000 each, and live like kings compared to the locals. Hundreds of people die playing buzkashi. Its a culture of sacrifice; Everyone there has to earn their keep, even the animals.

They are not 'kicked to death.' These horses worth on average $7000 and these poor individuals will look after them carefully. It's true that they are maltreated in the field during the game. There should be a buzkashi committee that should introduce regulations for the welfare of the horses. That's a good approach, not banning it.

@NobleSavage1919 Yes , and takes much skill and endurance to keep in this game. Horses are very special to man. Yes, it is amazing to me how far back this old spins around. So much I am learning in these years. Nothing which is taught in histroy books.. ooh America.. lol is not what it seems and is worse... land of the free? lol I know Noble, and i feel sadness for all.. Polo is actually a modern version of this game. All horseback games can trace their roots back to Buzkashi including Polo and Horseball. Remember, Afghan civilization dates back tens of thousands of years, domesticated animal and plant remains as old as 50,000 years have been discovered in modern day Afghanistan. America is an infant nation compared to us. My people may be hungry and tired, but our history predates anyone's.

LOL wow , the horses are magnificent. Very healthy. The game looks like a game we call polo here in America... only Polo is played with mallets swinging hard, and clobbering horses and people.. at least it seems that way.. chasing a ball. Playing games on horseback is great!. We use to play frisbee on our horses, besides the regular barrel racing.
