This is an almost-complete project to make a PONG type game on a 5 metre addressable RGB LED strip using an Arduino and a couple of footswitches. I'll post another clip shortly with the technical info, but this is just the first play test, with me vs. my daughter Lucy. I win, just! 1D PONG will be appearing at the Brighton Mini Maker Faire on September 8th (http://www.makerfairebrighton.com/)

Great idea and nice implementation. Is the tail programmed or an artifact of the camera? Because it looks great!

How is the game itself played? Do you have to stop when the "ball" is within a certain distance of the end? Is it possible to vary return speed by how close you let the ball get to the end, or by how hard you stomp?

Thanks - yep the tail is programmed. The game is about timing - you have to hit the switch when the ball is just about to reach the end of the strip. The later version gets faster with each return. I was going to vary return speed depending on how close you let it get to the end, but TBH it didnt "feel" quite right (somehow seemed to reward near misses rather than skill :o)

Oh this is excellent! This looks like something you could easily market as a toy (unless that's what you're doing already :D)

    You've earned a sub!

Maybe have two switches. A then B speeds it up, B then A slows it down. Just B or A does a normal return.

It looks like something you'd find in a really well-made 80s fun house!

And I mean that in the best way possible.
