US Supreme Court to Decide on Gun Ban Case

For the first time in 70 years, the U.S. Supreme Court is expected to rule on a controversial amendment to the U.S. constitution which some say protects individuals' right to own guns. The court's decision, which could come this month, stems from a court challenge of the strict ban on handguns in the nation's capital Washington, DC. Legal experts say it could result in significant changes to local laws and gun control measures in other jurisdictions around the U.S. VOA's Chris Simkins reports on the debate that has drawn passionate voices on both sides of the issue.

Why does D.C. have a high murder rate by gun? Ironically it's because they banned guns. The ban actually created a black market for guns, same effect Prohibition had on alcohol, a disaster! Combine the black market for guns with disarmed victims you get the D.C. murder rate. Good job folks.

Gun control only works to the extent that people obey the laws. It's not that difficult to comprehend. If someone doesn't want to obey the law, he won't. The only people who obey gun laws are law abiding citizens who wouldn't murder and assault people even if the gun laws didn't exist. Gun control proponents are essentially saying that it's morally and legally better to allow someone to be raped or killed than use legal deadly force in defense against such crimes.

I agree in every part, except that I dont think the NRA actually advocates for suicide. Every bureaucracy wishes for more members, so that doesn't really fly.

however someone should, every environmental concern today can be linked to overpopulation.

Most of Switzerland's population is armed with assault weapons. There crime rate is astonishingly low. Add to that the fact that Hitler went around them during WW2, and I would say that any argument which states that more gun control means less crime is ignorant. Or look at interviews with prisoners in maximun security. They say that cops don't scare them. They worry whether or not someone they are about to rob is armed. Or ask this: Do YOU want to be the person that takes anyones gun away?
