This is a small lecture I gave last year on the differences between reverse grip and kerambit use. Unfortunately, only a snippet of the entire thing was filmed, but I think there is some clear instruction here.

  • Hws it going Super Bobbe?? You up and running yet, or a there a few fuses left to be soldered :D

Im waiting for your "kamehamaha" technique video.

  • Hey Maul!

    Almost there, not 100% yet.

Come by Seattle on your next visit, I'll teach you "Durian fruit upside Brunei man's head" technique.

  • Well, the kerambit, as I said, is highly specialized for a limited range. I love using it...But having said that, I would prefer a regular knife.

  • nice video. if only my teacher had as much insight on this blade as you do then just the straight blade we use. always love the fluid movements it offers. would go great with our style.

  • Hey bobbe, I truly enjoyed the training in Seattle. I will make it a point to make it out there soon. It's a few miles but airplanes help. lol. Hope you're doing well. Adam

  • @tlapower I agree. I was the same way. I saw this many moons ago, then watched so many videos after it and came across this video again, and I understood it much better.

  • At first I did not appreciate your lessons and videos because I didn't have the background. Then I got some background and heard you drink Chimay. Now I'm all ears. Chimay Blue forever!

  • brilliant! thank you.

  • Amazing movements! So, there are many silat pendekars in USA... I am very happy to know this. Salam Silat!

  • Another great vid from PB. keep it up. It reminds me of stuff all the time.

Guro Ron, the kerambit is an advanced weapon and yes there are some great Guro level guys who can use this. I think what PB said was you HAVE to be a guro level practitioner with some solid skills to overcome the poor reach factor.

The one real plus to the weapon is that due to its curvature you can avoid arterial spray with body cuts and turning away from the cutting even as you turn the opponent into the cut.

  • In such a short video- so many points of interest and value... Keep it up Guru Bobbe
