What is The Atheist Experience?

The Atheist Experience is a weekly cable access television show in Austin, Texas, geared at an atheist and non-atheist audience. The Atheist Experience is produced by the Atheist Community of Austin (ACA), a nonprofit educational corporation to develop and support the atheist community, to provide opportunities for socializing and friendship, to promote secular viewpoints, to encourage positive atheist culture, to defend the first amendment principle of state-church separation, to oppose discrimination against atheists and to work with other organizations in pursuit of common goals.

  • what unorganized blather!

If we teach children everything we know, their knowledge is limited to ours.

If we teach children to think, their knowledge is limitless.

Give the gift that keeps on giving.

  • @Smithpolly Weird, I assumed she was a woman. I guess since I've had female teachers mostly, my schema has gone "Teacher is always female." xD

  • @jrdworak we have to thank your president Franklin D. Roosevelt for our country, he has build. his ideas took germany from a destroyed country to a very stabil economy and high growth economy because of his social movements in germany. R. I. P. he died way to early because he could have changed usa for a better and stronger economy, not corrupt and thats the problem. in your country, there are way to much greedy people who dont produce anything useful for society and live on the society cost

  • @jrdworak so true... i live in germany but they want to copy more american capitalism now, so we have more crime and more poverty in this phase. but this party which is in the parliament now and is the most pro american capitalism would have (if there were votes) only 2% of the votes because people see that this isnt working and it isnt.. thats why your country wont be a world dominating power anymore but china.. i love usa but what they are doing with the country is just shit..

  • This is a particularly good clip, but I like them all.

    Atheists rock!

  • I'm embarrassed. I assumed the teacher was a man as well.

  • You were specific in your claims of government intervening in the current recession. Well, look at someplace like Germany. They had WAY more government intervention and the worldwide recession hit them much less severely. You need to take what you say about religion and apply that to your own free market beliefs.

  • Second, the comments at the end about government intervention were way off. I'm sorry but the libertarian "Market will fix all" ideas are a religion in their own right. Government is very capable of doing some things much better than anyone else. Look at the healthcare debate. We rank 37th in the world behind every other industrialized nation that has government health care. Government intervention in science has resulted in some of our most profound discoveries and achievements.

  • A few things stood out in this video for me. First, as a high school math teacher, critical thinking is an important skill that should be stressed. I try to get kids to question assumptions and data whenever possible. One example off the top of my head, it never fails I'll catch a kid writing numbers out in their notebook. "A teacher offered to give you an A if you write from 1 to 1,000,000 right?" I'll ask. It gives me a good place to go over just how big 1M is and how long it will take them.

  • @MyITRcom Among many other things. i.e. Governmental oppression
