Two stone piles and stone lined well are archaeological remnants of a Civil War ear iron working operation on Roupes Creek just down stream of the Tannehill blast furnaces. It now appreas that the site was possibly more extensive than a simple forge. Missed by Union Army cavalry who raided Tannehill on March 31, 1865, the site was destroyed by a flood a few years later.
