You went about 180 deg from my point. I was saying if it's going to be 100% different, then just call it something else and don't steal a few of the main elements, like "Village" and Rover. The title was used to lure people to watch it. Of course remakes can't be exactly the same, but this was nothing like it. 99% of remakes just don't work because we like it the way it was. So might as well do something completely different, if you're going to do anything at all.

I disagree. There's no point to remake it if it's the same as the original. And that only is a good reason if you're gonna make something great, which it appears the miniseries was not. If Christopher Nolan ends up making a film version like rumor has it, that might be interesting. Regardless of anything, the original is one of the best TV shows ever and one of few non-comedies worth anyone's time.

There is no point in a remake if it's nothing like the original. They hype it up using the same title and a few small common elements to lead people into thinking it's a remake of a classic, in order to attract viewers. If they have created something 100% different, no one would have watched.

The original is the closest that the television medium has ever gotten to art.

i talked up the new prisoner to anyone who would listen, based on the 10min preview. i couldnt wait to sit down and watch them in twos on a nightly basis. each day my heart sank a little bit more as i found it agony to sit through- it was a disaster, no redeeming features at all. i now have some serious explaining to do since as far as im concerned it wasnt the prisoner in any way shape or form. every time no2s son came on screen i wanted to kill myself. had to watch clip of original to go on

u dont like it just because its diffrent from the original, whats the point in remaking something if its exactley like the original, the remake is very good and only narrow minded people like u say its bad for straying far from the 60s show

so whoever dont agree with u is narrow minded? bottom line this show had nothin to do with theprisoner and used its popularity to get an audience for its crappy 6episode run. why was rover even in this show? served no purpose and did nothing. the whole twist at the end has been done a million times it a better way. it was a joke. no way they could get a series outa this mess so they got6 episodes.5 to many in my opinion. who knows i mita liked it if it werent called the prisoner - its an insult

i dont hate the new prisoner because it strayed from the original, i actually think that was a good thing that they strayed away from it a little bit, but i hate it only because it made NO....FUCKING.....SENSE!!!!!! I was confused the entire way through, the show fails to explain ANYTHING and all it does is mash together pointless, meandering scenes that collide with one another and make a horribly tangled web of brainshit. Fuck caviezel he was a horrible six as well, mcgoohan was perfect

continuing, there isnt one scene in the last few episodes of the 2009 remake, not ONE FUCKING SCENE, that doesnt make you blurt out "WHAT IN THE HOLY MOTHER OF FUCK?!?!" and hit yourself in the head attempting to knock the stupid out of you in order to understand what the writers are trying to tell you. uhhh ok, so the kid cant go to the real world because he was born there, the village was made by the mothers mind through dreams, but its still there when shes awake cept for the holes...shit

When I was a lonely, transplanted teen from CA to the deep south I would RACE home from school to catch "The Prisoner". This show gave me something to adore when everything else seemed shitty. An amazing series with the only man who could have made it work - Patrick McGoohan.
