From 1999 to 2003, Intel produced the Pentium III, made in the p6 microarchitecture, better known as i686.
They did not knew fear.
They did not knew pain.
They knew nothing, but were good processors.
In 2000, Intel made Pentium 4, in a new microarchitecture, called NetBurst.
Today, I use Pentium Dual-Core. And the Core microarchitecture is based on p6, instead of NetBurst.

@davejoshmom1 Never disputed that. I said no _-*on-die*-_ cache. Also it wasn't full-speed. So a clear downgrade from the predecessor.

Well... the first PII-like models were crap. No on-die cache and a very short lived mounting system :/

No such thing, if you want what's technically a P3 dual core,

Look at the performance of any "Intel Dual Core" or "Intel Quad Core" processors, they're all based on the Pentium 3's architecture so it should give a good hint at how much these things tear the balls off competitors.
