When rigging out a kayak, it's important to bring a first-aid kit, a bilge pump, sunscreen, a water bottle, a map, a lunch, a rain jacket and bungee straps. Learn about using tow straps on a kayak with help from a whitewater and recreational kayaking instructor in this free video on rigging out a kayak.

  • the boat pattle and a life vest works good for me

  • Thanks that was helpful

  • Way too much deck clutter for my liking; makes self and assisted rescues too difficult. That first aid bag will float away or sink in a wet exit. Keep your tow belt around your waist; why is it attached with a line to the stern of your boat? A paddle leash is not necessary, it's more of a personal preference thing and is even dangerous in conditions like surf.
