    His work is amazing, especially seeing the canvas itself. I think this type of "portrait" could be used to link creative writing with visual art. It's also a great stepping off place for rethinking genres and ways of looking at classical constructions and modes of seeing. The techniques he uses are not news, but the way he uses those techniques in a redefining of "portrait" is where his genius lies.
