One of my favorite hymns, in one of the best performances ever, by the legendary Mormon Tabernacle Choir!

"Come, thou Fount of every blessing,
tune my heart to sing thy grace;
streams of mercy, never ceasing,
call for songs of loudest praise.

Teach me some melodious sonnet,
sung by flaming tongues above.
Praise the mount!
I'm fixed upon it,
mount of thy redeeming love.

Here I raise mine Ebenezer;
hither by thy help I'm come;
and I hope, by thy good pleasure,
safely to arrive at home.

Jesus sought me when a stranger,
wandering from the fold of God;
he, to rescue me from danger,
interposed his precious blood.

O to grace how great a debtor
daily I'm constrained to be!
Let thy goodness, like a fetter,
bind my wandering heart to thee.

Prone to wander, Lord, I feel it,
prone to leave the God I love;
here's my heart,
O take and seal it,
seal it for thy courts above."

Music: American Folk Hymn
Text: Robert Robinson
Arrangement: Mack Wilberg

  • @RedLetterChristian Great contribution?!? How sad. Bashing LDS for bashing's sake, always and forever, right? Why? What good comes of it, and what does your jobulon god think of your attitude, contrary to Christian teachings and especially contrary to what Latter-day Saints REALLY teach and live about the infamous faith/works controversy (oh, the good 'ol times when people got correct information before judging!)

  • How about some more positive comments on this amazing hymn instead of all this arguing! Let us celebrate our similarities and not our differences!

  • @MrsUnsilentMajority Actually, yes... Sung this Sunday as a special missionary musical number in the Modena Italy Ward! I'd never heard it before, but the tune and the hymn text undoubedtly go together well!
