Playing tennis is fun at all levels, but at the same time we have to admit that tennis faces at least one significant challenge. Travel anywhere in the world and you'll see that every single tennis court looks the same. Those 490 feet of lines are always in the same identical place. The result in tennis is that practice sessions often become boring since they are so repetitive. How popular would snow skiing be if every slope on every mountain were identical? Or, how many people would play golf if every single hole was a flat rectangle of the same size and shape? Boring.

Of course, on a tennis court, people solve this problem by interacting competitively. They go out to play, hit a couple of balls to supposedly warm up and say, "OK, serve 'em up." Don't take this negatively. Playing a couple of sets every time you go out to play in fine, but more ingredients are needed for improvement. And, yes, improvement is what nearly every single tennis player we interviewed listed as a top three reason for playing. 90% of the players we interviewed listed their top three reasons for playing tennis as fun, fitness, and the satisfaction of improving.
