Have a Chrysler or Dodge vehicle with a cd changer?
Here's an easy way to add an aux input for a mp3 player.

Is that a normal 3.5mm audio cable you are using to connect your mp3 player to the aux input you put in your dash, or is that some other kind of cable? I cant tell the size from the video and i already have a regular 3.5mm dual ended aux plug and would like to be able to use it for this project.

    Thanks

  • @Merwynlee Yup, its just your basic 3.5 cable.

  • Hello, at 2:45 where you say "connect a wire for the right channel to the STEREO", I'm not quite sure what that means. What do you mean by "stereo"? I understand that #3 goes to the right channel changer plug, but I'm not sure what you mean by "stereo"

  • @bannana77

Once you cut the wires, you will have wires going to the cd changer and wires going to the stereo.

  • If I just purchase the plug, will my stereo flip to that input when I press mode? Like, if you didn't reconnect your CD changer, and just left it with that wiring harness hanging there, will it still switch to that input by pressing "mode"?

  • If you don't reconnect the cd changer, the stereo might think there is nothing connected so, it may not switch to the plug.

  • Where can I get the same style CD changer as in the video?? If so, can I get it through Chrysler?

  • I would pay you to do this for my car. Seems very difficult.

  • @BigC2436 Yeah...Nevermind...Little internet search of the part and I see that the part from Radio Shack is what filters the audio...Thanks

  • You may have answered this somewhere, but if you still check this, I have a question...What makes the AUX out rank the CD CHANGER? Why wouldn't CD and MP3 play at same time?

  • @kcn781 Make a cd with blank tracks

  • $2.69 @ Radio Shack for AUX jack, couple hours Sunday afternoon in prep work and installation, and voila! Works awesome. Thanks for the instruction!

  • First of all, Thank you for the instruction. I followed all the procedures and it works. However, after I plug in my mp3 player, I still can hear the music from the cd at the background. How can I fix it? Thanks!

  • @wearetheos1 Have you come across any information on how to trick the HU into thinking a CD changer is present? I see there are several devices sold on eBay for around $80 which connect to the 10-pin CD changer interface yielding an AUX input. Some of them are able to provide track and artist names on the HU display, but most do not. Any idea what makes them tick?
