"WE" aren't "giving" them squat. "WE" imposed and protected the Shah, which provoked a revolution that was positive at first, and decades later lead to this.

The people in the streets are putting their lives on the line to STOP the abuses you're referring to, but you're so blinded by ignorant racism that you believe all Iranians are Ahmadinejad, everyone from the middle east is part of al-Qaeda, etc...

I used to think their trouble was the government and their President who wanted to wipe Israel off the map at one point. But after years of being associated with Iranians in Canada, I found that they only care about themselves. It's a terrible shame.

So tell me why women have no rights in Iran again? Tell me why they have public hangings? Why don't gay people have any rights there either? Why do women have to wear medieval garments? Why do people get stoned to death in that country? Why do random cars get pulled over by the moral police or whatever their called because they see a young man and woman in the car together? That country is fucked up. Why are we trying to give them democracy when they don't even respect us?
