I have been looking for a simple, uncluttered arrangement for Sheebag Sheemore for a while to play on my 12 string guitar. I finally found Nick Kroes' arrangement (Thank You!) on his website in dropped d tuning. Turns out that after all I like it a lot better played on 6 strings, tuned down a half step.
I also found out on my first foray into celtic fingerstyle how much I like that kind of music. Time to get my mitts on some John Renbourn arrangements!
The guitar is a Martin 00-18V and I recorded with a Kodak Zi8.

  • Really lovely piece, I tried this on the violin years ago....less than stellar....

Check out Pierre Bensusan and some of his Celtic style. although not sparsely beautiful, beautiful still...

    great playing !!!!!

  • @Cj12sings Thanks, CJ. Pierre Bensusan is on my list of favorite guitar players. Intuite is already one of my favorite albums but I still want to check out some of his more traditional celtic arrangements.

  • Hi Christian,

a good start into this style. There are so many beautiful melodies to discover. The more you get into it, the more you will love it. ... And John Renbourn is a great adress if you look for these songs, just as Pierre Bensusan, Pat Kirtley, Steve Baughman or Franco Morone, to mention a few! Keep on my friend!

    Cheers,

    Bernd

  • @BoeckmannLudwig Thank you so much for the encouragement, it's greatly appreciated. I just found a great arrangement for Planxty Irwin in dropped d. I'll give it a try later on this evening. Too much great music, too little time...

    Best Regards,

    Christian
