  • Every time I see people actually include all the shades of Deafhood like you do, in the rainbow of experiences we have, I just cry with relief because I am so late Deafened. Ancient Deafened. Thank you. It is a big gift.

  • A few historical inaaccuracies: oralism alread started before 1880. In fact at about the same time as de l'Epee's. Thomas Gallaudet encountered oralism in England before meeting Laurent Clerc, Jean Massieu and Abbee Sicard in London before they moved on to Paris to learn the French Method as it was called in some countries. Oralism was called the German Method,because oralism was prevalent in Germany through Samuel Heinicke.L'Epee and Heinicke exchanged letters, debating which method is better.
