I started singing The Spinning Wheel along time ago when I was singing at concerts in the earlier part of my career. I found this recording tucked away in a box during the time I was moving house. You can hear the lovely piano accompaniment from James McCafferty especially the last verse. I think this recording is almost 30 years old.....!! Mmmmmmmmmmmmm It was recorded with a few other songs in Magee College, Derry before BBC Radio Foyle had a studio in Derry. During the process of moving house I hurt my back and spent many sleepless hours......because of this I was up many mornings before dawn and witnessed all these lovely sunrises which I captured with my digital camera.

  • @clarebannerman Thank you again.....I sang this recently in McGrory's put in Culdaff, Co. Donegal.

  • Maureen, as a lad I sang a test piece for James, when I'd finished, he looked over the piano and said "Gingle's son, can''t sing? Can't sing!, me arse' and with that I was in the operetta. The piece had the beginning; The summer sun sank to it's bed behind Eoghil, the last light of day lay on Balla................... I have never heard of it since. You wouldn't happen to know of it?

  • @snipper1ie I am afraid I do not recall that. Maybe you would have more of the words to nudge my brain. Maureen

  • Absolutely beautiful!
