Battle of the Coral Sea 珊瑚海海戦

太平洋戦争で大日本帝国海軍（以下日本海軍）と連合軍のあいだで戦われた主な海戦のひとつ。
1942年5月8日、 珊瑚海で日本海軍の空母機動部隊とアメリカ海軍を主力とする連合軍の空母部隊が激突し、歴史上初めて航空母艦同士が主力となった海戦である。

この時に日本空母上空の護衛戦闘機隊を指揮したのは、有名な岩本­徹三氏です。　ミッドウェーは大尉が指揮をとりました。　戦闘は階級ではない事が如実に示されたのでした。

@yaotianran I think that the stories of mistreatment of POW's in china is bloated due to anti-Japanese sentiments. Japanese mistreated both American and Chinese POW's. There is no point in treating them differently because that would be too time consuming

The same thing is happening in China as well. More and more evidence is being found all over country. For instance, Jap used to widely chemical weapons and before surrendering they buried the shells. Until now it also can be excavated occasionally during construction, like at 2001 Harbin.

Japanese always slaughtered Chinese POW or civilian and then burnt their bodies and buried as they treated American POW in Philippine, making extremely difficult to find evidence to prove such war crime. Investigating these crimes needs time. For example, The number of victims of Katyn massacre is always fluctuating since it happened. Before 1991 Soviet Union only admitted the deaths of 1,803 Polish citizens. Now the number of victims is estimated at about 22,000.

Sook Ching massacre

The figures of the death toll vary. Official Japanese statistics show fewer than 5000 while the Singaporean Chinese community claims the numbers to be around 100,000. Lee Kuan Yew, the founding Prime Minister who ruled Singapore from 1959 to 1990, said in a Discovery Channel programme that the estimated death toll was, "Somewhere between 50,000 to 100,000 young men, Chinese".
