This video is a disgrace and very misleading! The plan is for Portobello High School to be built on the narrow strip of land at the bottom of the area; bounded by the brown line and the bottom street. It does NOT affect the Golf Course.
The Council have undertaken a rigorous audit of suitable areas within the catchment area. This was the only land that was suitable.
The Council in return are upgrading all the (substantial) park areas within Portobello.

Having been slaughtered at the last election, the Labour council has now conceded that the land IS common good land.

You are just pissed cause your area will be full of spotty teenagers dumping rubbish and wrecking your street. I bet if you had bought a house in Stockbridge or something you wouldn't give a toss!

The whole point is that I do give a toss, in fact over 8000 local people and people from abroad have signed the petition and definately give a toss.
If you give a toss sign the petition.

You forgot to mention that the only plan on the books is to build a much needed secondary school for over 1200 local children on one tenth of the park area... Nobody wants to loose green space but a good local school in a safe and healthy environment seems worth losing two (out of four) football pitches for. I'll stand with you to fight further development beyond that.

Thanks for your comment Labour has misled members of the public on this issue, (documented). Rebuild on site is best option. All green space will be built upon for short-term fiscal gain. There is no confirmation that housing will not be built. "No intention to build" is different. The school will be for 1400 pupils and will by necessity be available to Castlebrae pupils when their school closes. New school life expectancy (40 yrs) then rebuilt probably like Holyrood around the existing school
