"One Angel's Hands" by Mark Salona

"One Angel's Hands" from composer Mark Salona's
ROMANTIC PIANO album seemed an ideal song to
dedicate to those who devote their bodies and minds
to the care, relief, and healing of those who cannot care
for themselves. Such valor inspires and humbles we
who cannot fathom such sacrifice and devotion.

From the pioneering Florence Nightingale who forever
changed medicine by instituting anti-septic protocols,
to the trailblazing Clara Barton whose humanitarian
First Aid saved many thousands of wounded soldiers
on both sides of America's Civil War as she founded
The Red Cross, to my own sister Linda who, at the
time of this writing, has performed my health care
routine for an astonishing 2, 258 consecutive days
without vacation, holiday, or sick day, there are
many different scenarios and motivations and
blessings to be found among their stories,
including my most recent part-time nurses
who have escaped socio-economic and
political oppression in their native Haiti
by abandoning the administrative careers
they held at home in order to work their
way up the medical caregiver field here
in the USA, overcoming linguistic and
cultural differences in order to succeed.

For most of us, our first and uniquely effective
pair of Angel's Hands begins and remains
with our own mothers. And on this occasion,
I salute my First Angel as she celebrates a
birthday. God bless you, Mom. You're in
very fine company among kindred spirits!
