@Theafgstar1 - Basically the only difference between juvenille and adult plumage in a Rainbow Lorikeet is that juveniles look duller. After their first moult they become brighter and glossier. The only way to find out for sure if a Lorikeet is a male or female is to have it DNA sexed by a vet, or you could wait and see if it lays an egg.

how do u get the lorikeet that has a fully red breast does it have to grow and how do you tell a lorikeet male from female

So cute! My lorikeet used go to try and cram himself into his water bowl on the days he didn't have a proper bath lol, he loved water so much.

I think one of the reasons lorikeets don't last that long (and is very sad) is because they need the real nectar the nature nectar / natural nectar.... not the manufactured nectar :), but I hope very good luck with your lorikeets even if they can be pretty crazy sometimes / alot of times :)

@RodrogerAu i know how you feel mate. i have a beautiful Patagonian parrot and i cant imagine that i live without her. I simply love that bird more than anything. I hope you will find room in your heart for one little beauty when time come.

Yes, Rainbows just love bathing, I had one who loved hopping in my wifes fish tank for a swim all the time. Much to the annoyance of my wife.
As for commercial food (stated below) that is available for these birds, its not the lack of Nectar (generally there is none) it's the amount of carbohydrates in these mixtures. Made for Wild very active birds, not caged or birds who dot not fly kilometers a day....

@CocoJoubert
Thanks CocoJoubert, it now has been three months but I really miss her so so much. She was one of a kind and I will never be forget her.

I agree it's not a good idea to share a bath with a Lorikeet, or a shower for that matter, their claws really dig in on the arm when they are flapping under the water.
Even though Sasha enjoys a good bath in that dish, if you can, get one of those plastic kitty litter trays and put about 1.5 inches of water in it. More room to flap around in the water, or do what I call the 'Lorikeet Swim', dunk and neck level to get water over her wings!

Thanks for the tip, I do have an old cat litter tray but it is already in use by a local very friendly family of magpies who have decided to use it to bath in, so I will have to get another as this would be ideal for Sasha as she likes the water deep.
