OVA - Science Fiction Short Film - Part 1 of 3

'OVA' is an eerie and thought provoking digital short that explores topical issues relating to genetic engineering and corporate sponsorship.

With the help of the unscrupulous Dr Karrullus and his OVA Biotechnology Company, Ivan and Jennifer Urquart are finally able to have a child. However, the cost of the cutting edge 'gene-splicing' operation is more than the couple can afford. Taking advantage of the Urquart's desperation, Karrullus offers them a deal. The compromise they accept has dire consequences for the resulting child, a boy named Jake. By the time he reaches adulthood the son's maddening desire for vengeance leads him to seek out the evil doctor. But how will Jake feel when he confronts with the man who is at once a great nemesis and the one who granted him life? And will putting an end to Karrullus provide this tormented soul with the peace he so desires?

Filmed on location in southeast London during early 2003, this is writer/director George Flatters's first narrative short film.
