Market Frankford El-Subway - Philadelphia 06-22-09, One of America's oldest Subway systems. See a head on view as you ride one of America's oldest subways. Is the oldest Subway in Philadelphia. The Market Frankford Line is partially underground (The Subway) and partially above ground (The El). This ride begins under ground at the Somerset Station in the heart of Philadelphia's Historic section (Directly under Independence Hall-Liberty Bell) and goes above ground as it concludes at the Somerset Street Station (The Heart of Kensington). • That turn from york-dauphin to Huntington is the train turn that the Transformers 2 was shot at, back in 09, of course the use a fake street sign but thats the spot, You also see the el turning in a scene.

  • @ronnie1287 Cool I had no idea. Thanks for sharing.

  • Correction, your video began underground as the Subway was leaving Front st. station, not Somerset ! Somerset street station is a longways off, and on the Elevated portion, it's the station you ended up at.

  • Before they extended the line to the North East, the subway emerged out over front and Arch, and it continued north to the Fairmount ave. station, it originally consisted of a wide loop that swung out over Delaware avenue at Fairmount, and then it traveled south along Delaware avenue, this was referred to as the "Delaware Avenue loop", it was removed when construction began in 1913 for the Northeast portion of the line. That elevated on Delaware Ave. served all the ferry stations to New Jersey.

  • aaah...summertime in the HOOD!!

  • @passt2008 Okay, cool.

  • @backtoharmony It was meant to be sarcasm. My wife grew up in the area and her immediate family still lives there. The people who live there are regular hard working people and don't require any special precautions.

  • @passt2008 What do you mean when you ask, "are you allowed to feed them"?

  • @UNLIBRESPORITU39 What do you mean? I don't remember that, can you refresh my memory? That sounds interesting.

  • @backtoharmony - Are you allowed to feed them?

  • I Remember Ringo Starr In Septa Market Frankford Line
