Mario Kart Wii - May 28 08 A

Yikes, I just went through the biggest descent in my VR I've ever gone through. Over the weekend, I maxed out at 7949. Suddenly, people decided to go medieval on me, and my VR plummeted all the way down to 6598. I knew that a VR of 8000 or more was just simply out of my grasp.

Also, Rosalina is not nearly as detailed here as she was in Super Mario Galaxy. It's a shame. In Galaxy, that strapless dress just makes you want to massage her shoulders.

Race #1
Maple Treeway
I've shown this one because this was where I began my climb back up. You'll see where my session ends at when you finish watching this video, but as you can see, I dropped almost 1400 points. I'll bet people wonder why my VR rises and falls so much. Also, those two--Will and his guest Bryan--they kept picking Toad's Factory. It's an underpicked course, no doubt, but it's really annoying when you continue to pick the same stage after you've played it. As for the other competitor, James, that's dembonez19 from here on YouTube. It looks like he's experimenting with karts.

Race #2
Coconut Mall
That "♭αrβy ρμtε" (what a lot of Greek letters) sure was pretty tough. She had dominated everyone over the previous few races, and when the game took the players to Coconut Mall, this 9000 player crept up to become neck and neck over the final lap. What's interesting is that someone who goes by tp4B, another 9000 player, was stuck near the bottom ranks and couldn't escape. The results of this race should demonstrate that VR isn't that accurate, as they were all over the place going from top to bottom.

Race #3
Rainbow Road
This one was weird. Through much of the first lap, Michael proved to be a very adept kart user, and I was right behind him. The Blooper messed him up (how rarely does that happen?), but it was going fine. Then, all the character icons went every which way and situated themselves on the sides of the map. They just stood there, watching Rosalina go through Rainbow Road. Then, suddenly, the connection loses itself entirely, and I'm given 1st place. I hope Nintendo is repairing its servers right now, because we've been having major disconnection problems ever since America got Mario Kart Wii.

Oh, that. It was a connection problem. The game thought that everyone else is driving straight all of a sudden, and after some time with no signals from anyone, the game ends the race and pronounces me the winner.

It happens on occasion. Some people cheat by doing this every race.

VR stands for "Versus Ranking." Everybody begins at 5000, and when you play online, your number increases when you do well and decreases when you don't do very well.

I know what you mean. I was playing online today, and my VR fell from 8200 to 7800 in three races! It sucks because I was in first place during most of those races, but each time I got hit by a blue shell during the final lap :( oh well..
