Waist Wraps

Prerequisites:

Waist Wrap Basics

Here's my waistwrap video, pardon the Kookaburras, the wind, my tallness, my mistakes at the end. Hopefully you learn from it, and there'll be more to come shortly.

Enjoy,

Nathaniel

  • lol...where do you live? i hear monkeys in the background

  • I'd love to confuse everybody by letting them think there are Monkeys in Australia, but sadly, they're only in zoos. Although here in Ferny Creek we do have highly mutated rats who drank the creek-water, and I mean highly mutated... the noises in the background were probably birds.

  • What am i doing wrong?? my thighs are covered in bruises lol i keep smacking them when the poi comes round, I can do a meltdown but theres something im not quite getting on this one, any ideas?

  • If you're hitting your thigh, your hand probably isn't coming in front of your body enough. You can probably do meltdowns because you twist your body to move yourself out of the poi's path. You can try this with waistwraps, or just keep working your flexibility. Warping your planes a little away from your body might help too.

  • Thanks for the great video again, I like it when you show the other combinations you can use the move with. Can you make a combo / routine video sometime, showing which moves go well together or look great in combination with eachother?

  • 0:37 damn. I have been trying to clean that move forever, then I come here and once again you make it look like the easiest thing in the world.

  • 0:19 - 0:36 .. SHOW OFF! :P

  • @BLAZEnaples

I love his videos and even though at times the noises in the back can be loud its actually a bit of comedic relief because of his reactions to them lol. I don't mind them one bit.

Keep it up Nathaniel! You are helping me much in my poi adventures :)

  • @NathanielEverist thats a kookaburra right? :]

  • i can rarely get it around my waist without hitting myself.. and when i do its half wheel half wall plane.. ohh well, guess ill just keep trying.

your little freestyle from 4:30 on was pretty sweet, i need to learn btb and waist wraps so i can get away from weaving all the time.

    good stuff man

  • good video....what is with the bird noises in your videos??? hahaha i watched a couple of other ones and animal noises too. you should strive for this as a trademark maybe......is makes it fun to learn poi with your laid back attitude.

  • I'm finding that holding both of my arms behind my back, and spinning the meltdown motion one poi at a time while grabbing my poi arm mid-BTB is helping a ton. I've never considered myself that flexible, but this is helping me get planes and do a little extra stretching while practicing as well as what I've been doing in preparation.

  • All of the pants I own seem to be too lose to be able to do this easily ; ;. Oh well, working on finding new apparel while stretching daily!

  • this is great
