I don't think people are really drawn in by the promise of an "Episode".

I was entering a similar situation after a management change at my last job. It was getting so bad that even my counselor was begging me to quit. Luckily, my husband just happened to get a promotion at his job that required us to move to another state, so that definitely saved my life.
