  • Not sure but I'll see if I can find out!

  • There are also many vids here on You Tube shot IN Irish pubs of tradtional sessions happening in Ireland if you'd like to compare.

  • Several of the folks playing in this group ARE from Ireland and will tell you sessions like this ARE happening over there. This is the way the music was handed down for generations. It's not a stereotype at all. They aren't playing "Danny Boy!" For a stereotype, look up some St. Patrick's Day videos!

  • why do people say 'ireland isnt like this'? ye have obviously been in the wrong pubs then, cos i was at a session last night in limerick with 7 players and it was class.

  • ya see this is the real heart and soul of celtic music. this is where groups like celtic woman and enya get it wrong, its not some big posh, showy production with fancy lights and frilly dresses but just a bunch of guys and gals having fun playing the folk songs of their land.

  • anyone coming to Ireland I can let you know where sessions like this take place in the Midlands about 3 to 4 times every week

check out username ballinue on youtube for

    details

  • Do you know if this session is going to resume for the fall of 2009, and, if so, on which date will it start up again?

  • They may not be this large, or this...er... rough, but sessions like this happen in Ireland regularly. I stumbled into one on Howth on a Sunday, just afte Clare won the all Ireland in 1995. I also participated in one this last March in County Down. This is real.(ish).

  • I spent about three days in Doolin. Actually, I did most of my playing in Lisdoonvarna (however the hell you spell that) at the Roadside Tavern.

  • you ever been to Doolin in Clare? It's like this 7 days a week.... -.-
