I did this some while ago, a Geforce 5 was state-of-the-art at this time. It features volumetric clouds, water using pixel shaders and heightmapping for the terrain

  • Old technology, new implementation. This stuff, considered the height of its technology back then, is now a daily occurrence in all modern games. History history, such interesting stuff. Future future, can't wait to see it.

    What technique did you use? From observing volumetric nebulae in X2, I think they've used billboarded additive-blended particle-like sprites, but otherwise I'm not quite certain what to do in my spacesim.

    Your clouds turned out quite realistic. My compliments!
