About thirty-six years ago, after four months of meditaion, 12 hours per day, seven days per week, I finally had an experience where, in my mind at least, I, for several hours, saw and felt the brotherhood of all things, living and not living. During this experience there was no near nor far, because the so called "universal one", for lack of a better word, showed that I was not only the tea cup in front of me, but I was also at the same time, Jupiter. Just by looking at a nearby brick wall, I was nearly moved to tears of joy, but joy is not really accurate, because the feeling simply WAS. It was not joyous nor sad. But that simple, "is-ness" was completely satisfying.
I know I can never really explain those moments, but it is my hope that some of the lyrics below, might, maybe on a subconscious level anyway, communicate with some part of your own beings who may have already been there........but for a while.......had not remembered.

Thanks for listening, chuck.

HILL IN THE WOODS, copyright Chuck Picklesimer 2012

There's a hill in the woods where we used to play
A hill in the woods, our fine hide away
Sun shining in, rain falling down
Snow brothers you and cools my face
Mother of leaves and the wind and earth
Welcomes each to a hill of a place that is good.

We are brothers and sisters and family
Common to strangers and friends.
Familiar though hidden 'till needed
To nature and all of her kin.

We're sharing our visions with rivers and stone.
Hoping in subtle ways, never alone.
Let beginnings stay started.
Let endings delay
Let circles be arrows, home pointing the way.

These lives we're sharing through past generations
Continue those blessings of natural relations.
There's a hill in the woods where we used to play
Snow brothers you and cools my face.
Mother of leaves and the wind and earth
Welcomes each to a hill of a place that is good.

  • First of all, great picking and song Chuck. ***** Your voice is just right for this one. I read your write up. Very interesting. I too had 3 experiences like this in my life about 25 years ago. For me it was a speritual thing and drew me closer to my Savior. I wish you all the best in this life. Peace, Sherrill

  • Four months of meditaion, 12 hours per day, seven days per week is serious stuff. I have heard about people having near death experiences and having this vision of oneness and totality of existence. I believe you when you say this Chuck. Really beautiful. You are a good spirit my friend. Keep the candle of awareness burning in your window so others may see it and find a way to the warmth of the fire that burns within.

A lovely song. One of your prettier efforts too.

    Paul
