You have some of the most informational videos on youtube, thank you for posting your videos. How did you get three pumps?
-
You obviously don't know what a super bolus is and why you'd want it.

i have this pump! and i lke it.

why are you using the load screen?

People! I have a blue cozmo pump. that is a temporary rate not a bolus! its a temporary basal pattern set aside for if your doing something longterm like a camp. and the load menu is when you chnage your site. geez i'm 13 and i even know thats not a bolus.

I think Bernard is using this technique to bolus for the missed basal dosage since he is going to disconnect the pump. However, if he took it as a bolus, the pump will assume that it is a correction bolus or whatever any kind of bolus and thus will include it in the IOB (Insulin on Board) or will be misleading when he tracks his boluses intake.
Bernard, I think that Cozmo 1800 has a disconnect feature though that can let you take some of that missed basal in advance.
Thanks for your always constant help :)) Very appreciated and valuable.

Thank you for the comment.
The Cozmo 1800 does have a disconnect feature. If I use the feature, I tell the pump how long I'm disconnecting for. Then I can take up to half of a regular basal before I disconnect and the same upon reconnecting.
But the super bolus just moves some of the basal insulin forward in time. So I'm not disconnecting, I'm just using that basal amount earlier. It's different to disconnecting.

Hi Bernard
Interesting approach ... but I don't really understand why you would do this? If you want to bolus for a 'high', then you can just put the blood-sugar number in, or if you want to bolus for food, then you would just input the carb amount. Either of these routes would give you the same net result as your 'super bolus' ... right?

Sorry for not replying sooner. Somehow I didn't see the notification for your comment.
The super bolus ends up working FASTER than a regular bolus. The technique was co-developed by John Walsh of Pumping Insulin.
The additional speed due to earlier use of basal insulin means that highs come down faster. It's also easier to handle high glycemic index foods that make your bg go up super fast.
Type Bernard and bolus into Google to find a pointer to the details.
I hope this helps.
