  • 2006 by FAR! At least in this scene, I cannot give my opinion for the rest of the movies as I have only seen 1.

Anyways... Apart from my bias that I have only seen the 2006 one, It captures the scene best, though 1983 did very good. 1996, i hate to say, was just awful. Anyways, the one major component 1983 was missing was Mr.Rochester calling Jane a wich!

Oh, and where is the stile she sat on? I miss that, because Mr.R sits on it when she comes home.

  • My dear people.

Why do you so many of you do not like 1996 version? IMHO it's visually wonderful, admirable and so it is the atmosphere. Also te actors behave properly for Jane and Mr. R., as it was written in the book.

Or do you have such opinion because of your symphaties?

  • Cannot agree more that 96 is the best! Zefferelli absolutely made it beautiful! And William Hurt is the only who got Mr. R's inner thoughts right as the book told in the second half. People need to read the book in order to know that Mr. R wasn't rude to Jane at all after the fall.

    Loved the 97 version!

  • I am glad you like it too. Though I do not say it is the best. And also Mr. Rochester doesn't always behave as in the book. There are many differences. It was my intend to aim your attention to the beauties of f.e. this scene.

Do you like the scene in the film of JE 1997 after he falls? He shoulted at Jane so much, he was rude, don't you think?

  • this is silly, why isn´t any rochester (except toby) really leaning on jane? :D they just normally walk, with their hand on jane´s shoulder. what´s the use of it? lol

  • Jane and Edward meet 1944

  • has no1 seen the black&white one with mr wells the best one by far

  • 2006, undoubtedly. Not to disrespect anyone else's opinion, mind you. But he actually looked like he leaned on her and his attitude was consistent with the Rochester, I imagine.

1996, is next in my opinion, because it was very much like the dialogue in the book. And because it had Jane trying to get the horse. Plus, he almost looked hurt.

1983, attitude was right, but he's walking fine and the horse was far too calm. Plus, Jane seemed off to me, and she didn't try to help him walk.

  • @twirlergirl92 well, he is rude to her in the book; just not at this part.

  • @twirlergirl92he's not mean to her in the book............

  • Oh dear god 1996... wow. Terrible. Forget William Hurt, they should have got John Hurt. He would have been better! Old, but better!

  • I vote that 1983 version is best in terms of actors choices - Rochester, Jane, Mrs Fairfax, the little girl, Grace, the cousins, Mrs Reid and the rest fits into the period. Only complain is the choice of custume for Jane is too plain, Thornfield should be more imposing, the furnitures too old and dusty looking and the gardens and fields should be grand. The ending is too short - I want to see the little girl, Mrs fairfax with Rochester and Jane.

  • 1996: WTF?! He doesn't even get mad at her!!!! He's WAY too nice and his horse falls over after he does a cheesy double look at Jane. I was practically laughing. I mean, come on.

  • De gustibus non disputandum.....

I really like the 1996 version of Charlotte Gainsbourg and William Hurt .

  • 2006 is the BESTEST BESTEST BEST!!!!!
