music and video: keith devries
para mi clase de musica incidental II en IUNA, el invernadero nacional de Argentina. the visual is a montage of footage i've collected over the four months i've been here, shot on an ill-suited handheld digital camera. though despite the picture quality here, the original file looks much better. i had to rush this one together because my original project is locked inside my computer due to the school's computer lab's being closed, and that my free trial of sony vega ended before i could finish it. so, i threw it together last night (with two days left in town) and recorded the audio--improv+"field recordings" from my balcony--with a tiny computer microphone and audacity, all in all about a five hour event. it turned out for the better, because i think the sentiment is a little more focused than i'd originally intended (think "escalator shot" times five). first time i watched it, the barack footage made me feel sappy. it might be more of a personal memorial than anything else, but disfrutalo nonetheless.
this video is great, a cool artistic piece. the fact that its recorded on a balcony really adds to the mood because you can hear the city.
