Recovering a Hilux caught in a sticky situation

Firstly, for the hater/armchair ofroaders - yes hooking a shackle over a towball is dumb, and shouldn't be done - do not do it!

We drove up to the bottom of the main climb on Broken fire trail, decided that we had no chance and had to turn around. The young bloke in the hilux misjudged the slope and found the rear of his car sliding towards the tree. I pulled the winch cable out, through a snatch block and then to the towbar. Minimal load was applied to the ball, enough to stop the car sliding any further, due to the angles of the snatch block minimal winch outfeed was needed for the hilux to get down the slope.

The owner of the hilux WILL be buying a hitch receiver recovery point shortly
