  • Just a wee correction to the title of this clip. I don't think it's Rio Bravo but LEO BROUWER. He says at the beginning ' here's my variation on a Leo Brouwer number'. Leo Brouwer is a modern day Classical Guitar composer who I know Isaac would have been more than familiar with. Fantastic playing here, love it!

  • Thanks for the info.

  • It's study number six from Leo Brouwer's Simple studies with some slight variations. It's a great right hand warm up. Brouwer is Cuban, I wonder if they ever met.

  • so lovely to see this great guy on my screen after so many years . He was a wonderful man , gentle , patient and caring . Saw him maybe four times live and he always astounded and gave his best despite him playing these songs so often. A brilliant guitarist and he is sorely missed. Join the face book page set up in his memory and celebration

  • i loved listening to isaac play this nylon string guitar-during his last couple of years he seemed to play it less and less favouring his takamine then martin acoustics-thanks for posting this pretty rare footage

  • Footage of Isaac Guillory is far too rare. Thank you so much for posting this!

I recently bribed a gifted guitar-playing friend to learn an Isaac Guillory piece (Spanish Reign) as it seemed the best way to give others the chance to hear how good Isaac was.

    Cheers

    Nick

  • This outstanding performance is like a stroll through Isaac's back catalogue - there are quotes from many of his 'regular' songs all strung together into a quite remarkable improvisation. An absolute joy to watch, with the recognition that any aspiring acoustic guitarist should be worshiping at the feet of Isaac Guillory. Thanks so much for posting this.
