The most unfuckwitable alto sax player ever. Ain't nobody tryin' to sound like him, cause its impossible. Always loved that uptempo version.

You know, so many tenor sax players emulate Trane, and you can't blame them. Playing permutations of an idea, extrapolating it out to the nth degree, is easy to try to imitate. They end up playing scales real fast, missing what Trane did, but they all try. You notice, nobody ever tried to emulate Eric Dolphy. They still don't. What he did was sui generis. Nobody can figure him out. He was a true genius.

Dolphy died June 1964 in Berlin. He played his last concert at "Jazz-Gallery", Bundesalle, Berlin, near Kurfürstendamm, now named "Rickenbacher´s". That is a bandstand, which presents almost every evening rock, blues, seldom jazz., mostly amateurs. What shall we do on the 50th anniversary of Dolphy´s death at the spot of his last concert?? I think, something must be done!!

Isn't it lovely that every day, for the last seven years, an average of 100 people have watched this remarkable film.

If the racial problems didn't exist, and he could have been treated or diagnosed with Diabetes, I'm sure he would have! He was working on a violin Quartet before he died. That would have been awesome!!
