  • I understand your frustration with Filipino-Americans, since most of them don't know how to speak Tagalog or know much about their culture, but you have understand that the word Filipino signifies an ethnicity as well as a race. People are born Filipino, Chinese, African-American, etc. And be glad those people actually say they're Filipino. I know many Filipino-Americans who are too ashamed of their race and say they're Hawaiian or Polynesian. They have their reasons, but it's quite pathetic.

  • it's food, singing, and manny pacquiao hahaha.

  • ohh how i love youtube debating!

  • yes you can, yes you can. but my point is about phil-ams saying that they are filipino but the truth is, their parent/s were the REAL filipino/s. no you're not a filipino, you are a Fil-am. biologically, yes you are a filipino, but as a whole, no.

    2 cut things short,

you= fil am (not a filipino)

    ur parents=filipinos

  • I am american born, full blooded Pinay, and because you say that I don't speak the language, I'm not considered filipino? Ridiculous. Like many Fil-Ams, I was raised in a home where Tag-lish was spoken and were proud to call ourselves Filipino. I understand Tagalog, but often don't speak it with other native pinoys because of that attitude that Fil-Ams aren't considered "true", because we don't speak Tagalog as well/at all. Can't we be proud of our people, regardless of our birthplace?

  • but i was just saying that, given that they are of descent, they should at least know how to speak the language. because US is a large country of mixed races, and some phil-ams say "I'm a filipino.... errr... i cant speak filipino"

.. just say "my PARENTS are filipino"

  • exactly
