Riley is playing one of his absolute favorite Nintendo 64 games, Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire. This game was released in 1996 and one of the flagship games for the newly released system back in the day. This game was based of a novel and then made into the game. It takes place between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. The story follows Dash Rendar who aided Luke & the rebels to save Princess Leia from the great enemy Prince Xizor's hand.

Now you can join Riley for some commentary excitement as he plays some of his past and new favorites! New episodes uploaded twice a week. Rather than a snapshot of a particular title (similar to what Jon does), Riley plays a good majority of the entire game. Join him every Monday and Friday so watch him progress through his favorite video game titles!

the guy does realise that you are playing as dash rendar even in the first level. they retconned him into the battle of hoth in empire. also they put his ship in the special edition of a new hope. he was just leaving mos eisley when luke entered. he was investigating the rumors that his brother stanton rendar was still alive.

@arononkorr Yeah - I wasn't expecting the book to follow the game (or the game to follow the book) too much. Does it have the complete ending, like when you beat the game on the harder difficulties?

It's not too bad. though some of the parts of the game aren't the same. As I recall, one of the later levels where dash is, he never actually goes to in the book.

My favorite is actually Dash Rendar, from this game and the book. I just always thought the character was really interesting. Especially when he returns in the later books in the star wars line.
