Hi Tim,I am frm Singapore. My daughter just started algebra and was realllly confused by the method used by her teacher. Your "dog" & "cat" worked wonders for her!! and she could grasp it within 5 mins. Within 15 mins, she finished all the 20 sums for homwork; and guess what? she got all of the sums correct! Thks a ton!! Will surely be watching more of your videos.

Okay so if i hv -5 + 5 ( 5 cats nd 5 dogs) wouldnt 5 dogs chase away 5 cats nd we'd b left with 0 ? but the answer is -10 ..? please help i hv a test soon nd i got confused on my hmwk when my teacher checked it .. so im guessin the cats nd dog rule doesnt apply here? ur vids really help thanks a million ! :)

@JessicaB97 -5+5=0 That is the correct answer, not -10. Not sure who told you that answer, but it's wrong. The dog cat thing works with that problem. I hope that helps you my friend ; )

@tbed63 Hey Tim, it's no problem at all. In fact, I should be the one thanking you as my girl grasped it in a jiffy! In Spore, maths is generally of a high standard. In tests and exams questions are not straighforward. Eg of a basic question: a frog lives 10m below a well. It leaps up 6m and then leaps down 4m. What is the total distance leaped? Students will then have to form the equation: -10 +6 + (-4). Of course, this is just a basic one there are more complicated ones.
