Remember that at this time the union movement was demonized because it was largely made up of immigrant workers...(who's grandchildren are now railing against Mexicans 'taking their jobs')

GET TO WORK WE NEED THE EGGS - classic.

@antieverything1 If you read Settler by J Sakai, it makes the case that the grandparents were railing against racial minorities taking the jobs as well.

You should smoke crack before watching this

How is that anti IWW. Those hens were great! That's how it should be done.

This is an anti-IWW cartoon. The black cat is a symbol of the IWW, not your "house negro", dumbass.
-
lol!!!
-
black cat is house negro * hens are negro women
this is very racist
I will watch his others to see similarities

The culture of the time must have been different, maybe. B/c as you point out, it's hard not to sympathize with the chickens.

What I find strange is that they would use a black cat, a symbol associated with the IWW, in the role of the "foreman" in this film.
This clip is from "Alice's Egg Plant" (1925). As mentioned elsewhere, it was produced by that union-loving mogul, Walt Disney. And that's not Sabo-cat, but "Julius," who bore more than a passing resemblence to another cartoon star of the day, Felix the Cat.
