As this clip begins, the congregation is still involved in the handshake of peace. We played quietly in the background until the priest returns to the altar. At that point, we begin singing the Lamb of God. Once again, this is based on material that Greg wrote for the mass.
And by the way - many thanks to everybody for the nearly 500 views that these videos have received. I figured we'd be luck if we got 100 views from parishoners, but apparently they've attracted some interest from outside our local community. Please, please, please, leave a comment while you're here. I'd love to see comments from other musicians, other choirs, and from anybody else.
Thanks jalapeno ;)

@gregadizzle HEY Man all your songs you did at this mass are awesome! I LOVE this Lamb of God! I do it all the time at our guitar mass over here, you guys make it sound so much more jazzy tho, but i just thought id let you know that youve got a big fan over hear playing and singing your Lamb of God!!

Hey so thats me playing the guitar, and I wrote this Lamb of God. I just want to say thank you Michael. O and nilofc, i hope the fact that Im an atheist breaks traditional boundaries as well.

all the criticism that you are getting is because the critics are racist they hate the fact that music from aferican americans are making it into their church... I'm sure the Folkies got the same displeasure from the traditionalists. and to think that when the catholic church finally allowed more instruments than just the organ and all of these new masses by mozart and bach were written in the same style as popular music of that day... I wonder if anyone questioned them

@nilofc And obviously YOU dont read the scriptures. Even they say to Clap your hands, and sing praises of joy to God. NOt boring old organ hymns that make people wants to walk out and leave. Not only that, but my bishop has attended many of our contemporary guitar masses and he has given me nothing but compliments. Just because YOUR interpretation of how the mass should be doesnt mean thats what it actually means. Obviously my bishop doesnt know his catechesis either, how bout that right?
jalapeno2010 1 year ago
@jalapeno2010 That's what happens when people who provide music to their churches doesn't know their own catechesis.

@hiya4011 Sorry but you clearly didn't read the rubrics of the mass and you don;t have any idea that the church doesn't change its traditions just because the people prefers funky night club music. This is a disaster.... clearly a liturgical abuse. I certainly hope that your bishop will take notice of this and cut this stupidity once and for all.

Hey Look man, these people that complain saying this isn't appropriate for mass dont know what theyre talking about. You guys play BEAUTIFULY and i love it! I do a guitar mass at my church with our contemporary choir----- and i hope you dont mind, but i LOVE this Lamb of God SO MUCH that i sat here at my computer listening to it over and over again, and i jotted down the words and the chords for it, and we sing it at our guitar mass now!

are you kidding me? this group is great but this is NOT APPROPRIATE for the holy sacrafice of the Mass........there is a time and place for everything and singing the blues doesn't belong in the Mass.

I'm in a more modern choir at church, and I think, it's ABSOLUTELY peaceful and gorgeous. Thanks!
Sorry, nilofc, once people get used to things, they will sing and enjoy.
