@Raptoreyes Tribunes of the Plebs, how the roman republic became more perfect ,
-
@OrphanPaper Actually the Roman senate did gain a "lower house" for the artisans and other laborers after political turmoil in Rome. Just open up Machivelli's "The Discourses on Titus Livy" and skip to a chapter partly entitled "how the roman republic became more perfect" or some such. In any case the Roman Legislator did gain a second governing body based on class lines. Ill see if I can zero in on the chapter for you later on.

@Raptoreyes call it republic is misleading ,the only difference was the removal of the so called Senate which were in fact the rich elite to appoint the annual leader ,so it was the oligarchy of rome , a bit like the what the USA calls democracy
-
@OrphanPaper The Republic of Rome preceded the Roman Empire. Its a vitally important distinction.

@VoteJesusNow This insight is quite true. The word democracy is a bugbear of academia more then anything else. Spreading of power via multiple branches with limits enshrined into law are more important then one person one vote.... especially in ancient times. If the government is too booged down in proceedure to tyrinaise its citizens effectively the government will foster freedom of a sort.

@MrROTCnazi Correct
The map I used is not perfect but pretty good.
Too bad America is currently ignoring that Constitution and becoming just like any of its southern neighbors. Sad to watch it happen.
