I've been a tech guy for a long time, but the older I get, the more I realize the personal benefits of things like this. I am slowly putting together my plan to become completely independent from the rest of society so that the crazy things that happen in our economy won't affect me very much. There are plenty of "organic" micronutrients which you can add.

The system wouldn't be Aquaponics without fish, thats called Hydroponics and uses all chemical ferilizers, which may or may not be organic.

And before some nitwit tries to negate that "chemicals" are used in "Organic" hydroponics. Water is a frickin chemical.

I love the concept. I just hate the liberal left leaning intro. You can have a greenhouse for this, you just have to regulate the temps. Lastly, sustainable doesn't mean using a bunch of electricity. You may want to invest in solar.

Yes you need to buy young fish from pound farm. This system only works for growing fish.
