From the quaint rural communities of the South to the bustling urban centers of the North, race affects America's death penalty system in unsettling ways. RACE TO EXECUTION follows the haunting stories of two death row inmates, exposing the role race plays in who lives and who dies at the hands of the state.

RACE TO EXECUTION premieres Tuesday, March 27 on Independent Lens, a weekly series airing on PBS. Hosted by Terrence Howard, the acclaimed series showcases powerful and innovative independent films. Presented by ITVS, Independent Lens is broadcast on PBS stations nationwide.

  • I cancelled my membership to PBS after I watched this. It was ENTIRELY sympathetic to the murdering slime and did not ONCE think of the victim or their family. I am a lethal injection proponent and I will NOT be made to feel 'inhuman' when these animals who wantonly rape and murder themselves should be killed.

Most Americans WANT the death penalty in clear cut cases of guilt in murder cases. There is no such thing as life without parole because sh-tbag governors commute their sentences...

  • The Death Penalty is still pretty popular in America but it has loss popularity. Because over the years it has become apparent that a inmates have been executed. Who have turned out to be innocent. And most americans don't want to see that.

  • most death row inmates are white males because there are more white males and they are more likely to commit crimes against whites. It is more closely correlated to the race of the victim than the perpetrator.

  • Race is a factor? Most of the Blacks on my states death row are there for killing other minorities. Typical BS.

  • Well you know what Baretta used to say. " Don't do the crime if you can't do the time". It's a messed up world. People get killed for a pair of shoes or because they bumped into someone or is the wrong skin color. What can you do about human nature. Maybe total extermination of all life is the answer. Wouldn't be anymore problems then would it. If it were to happen I'd sit back have a beer watch the end of the world on Tv and Have A BIG LAUGH!

  • If race is the deciding factor in the justice system, making the death penalty wrong, shouldn't we get rid of prisons too?

  • "Blacks are more likely to go to jail, because Blacks are more likely to be targeted by the police."

Then how do you explain most death row inmates being white males?

  • Yah, it will dissarm law-abiding people. Tell me this, did banning cocaine make it go away?

  • The united states leads the world with the most prisons, And is currently building more prisons, People bitch about China , But look at your daily news, Killing someone is a merit badge to some of these bad azzes,Boxing them for life a real hell on earth for them to endure, box them in crates and stack them high and when we cant stack anymore start a new pile,

  • Your point is relevant and understood but it would help if guns were banned and confiscated.
