  • Tell you what, go read the exhaustive works of Lacan, Foucault, and Heidegger. Once you've done that (and understood it), then you can question these guys' intelligence.

  • @readinglts Dude, if your school has a policy debate squad, and they don't spew, you're screwed.

  • @obrightgirlo I don't think it should sadden you, talking faster makes debate even more fun. It also makes it harder, you've go to figure out flaws in their evidence quicker, think of the weakest part in their internal link story faster, argument interaction, and strategy. Curious as to you thoughts.

  • the idea that "spreading" kills debate education is just dumb. Forcing yourself to process the maximum amount of info. in the shortest period of time is the ultimate form of education. I've debated in college on the national level for a year and I feel as if I've learned more than I did in my 4 year high school debate career. Challenge yourselves and stop being lazy

  • @BigBS194 we have a policy debate team, but it's one of the few remaining debate leagues in the country that doesn't spew. I'm pretty glad actually, cause I can't talk that fast :)

  • This is when I am happy that my school's debate team isnt a speed debate team.

  • As a debater from the Memphis Urban Debate League, I have never witnessed "spreading" before in my entire debate career. I can't believe this actually happens in other cities, honestly. What a joke. It actually saddens me to know this is what I have to look forward to when I compete on a national level.

  • @TheDasha92 Could not say it better myself.

Redicoulous spreading rules policy debate. They should go into LD and puff where people believe their arguments and dont just regurgitate study after study.

Spreading and policy takes away from the biggest basis people debate on, which is our own logical sense.

  • i just dont understand why they had to run this argument when they could have switched to LD or even Public Forum. seriously, just go to a better form of debate that suits you.

  • no there not.
