Rush, by University of Colorado-Boulder assistant professor Daniel Kellogg, is a high-energy opener to the Boulder Philharmonic's season finale concert. Christopher Theofanidis Rainbow Body provides a sublime meditation based on a chant by Hildegard von Bingen, a medieval mystic. Carmina buranas text celebrates the earthly pleasures of wine, food and sex...while the music captivates us with primal chants and insistent, repetitive rhythms. A big production, this concert features a large orchestra and chorus, a childrens chorus, and soprano Mary Wilson, tenor William Parsons, and baritone Dennis Jesse as soloists.
