Finally got spark. So kick it over. On the second serious kick the Beast lights off!

  • Beautiful bike!

  • @VolvZebb21 Thanks, beautiful in a rat bike kind of way I think! ;-)

  • Thanks so much for getting back to me. I have tried the starting fluid thing, my ankle hurt for a week from the kick back. The deComp valve seems to be working right, just seems the timing is weird. The gap on the flywheel crossing the pulser coil which causes the spark seems to be on the downstroke rather compstroke. ATDC ! makes no since. I'll check the website though, your personal experience and hearing

That Pig lite up has got me hopefull.

    Thanks again

  • @Doyesimons Any more luck getting your to run?

  • My 74 SC doesn't want to awaken, kinda weak but consistent spark, good compression finally after finding a third over ring on eBay. Any advice? How did you set your timing? Are you running original cdi/stator?

Thank you in advance if you could help save another yellow beast.

Sign up to the YamahaEnduro dot cee oh em forum. Tons of assistance on these Yamaha bikes over there. They helped me get mine up and running. If you have spark then it may be a problem with the carb? Also, is the auto-decompressor closing? Have you measured compression? If you remove the air filter and spray starter fluid docn the carb intake, does it fire?

  • Did not come with one. Have since fitted a period piece that includes a spark arrestor. Much more pleasant to be around.

  • Awesome sound but does it have a silencer?

  • Great video Valves! Nice reaction shots from everyone too!

  • SWEET! glad you got it running!! i had a similar feeling after i lit off my 1968 DT1 for the first time in 30 years.
