Instructional video for Japanese-style gift wrap. Watch the whole thing before attempting, because I mess up at one point, then correct it. ;D

  • Could you be anymore vague?? Any help with getting the paper size right?

  • @abhorsen1989 I could probably be a lot more vague. I don't have a formula or anything for measuring the paper - just try wrapping it around the box before you start, and if it looks like it will cover it, it probably will. Err on the side of having too much paper.

  • Whats the point.. it's going to be ripped off anyways :S

  • @MrAbortionClinic What's the point of doing anything when we're all going to die anyway?

  • It's a very "neat" technique, but my Grandmother use to do that with out the use of tape! Are you Japanese? Do you know the technique I'm referring to? Personally I NEVER mastered the skill, I.e. wrapping a gift PICTURE PERFECT and "without" the use of tape! Shame on us! I sometimes will "Cheat" and USe Craft Glue (The Spray type). It is so FAST! But, I would LOVE to know how my Granny "gift wrapped all her gifts without the use of Tape, glue, etc. I also could never find her seams.

  • @Eseercam Hehe, cool! I'm not Japanese, I learned this from the Japanese tea company I worked for...they taught us to use tape, I guess because we're lame Americans. ^^; It would be easy enough to not use the first 2 pieces of tape and only use the last one, but...I don't know how you'd forgo that last piece!

  • @uohecc Yep, you're right. This is the way the company I worked for taught us ham-fisted Americans how to do it. :p

  • It would be better if you used double sided tape,if you get me. Than no tape would be seen.

  • Elegant.

  • Ive been wanting to learn this for sometime now. I still cant keep the paper tight.. ugg!

  • Cool!

  • You are a genius.

  • I remember seeing this wrapping style when I went shopping during Christmas in Japan. I loved watching them wrap gifts. They were really fast and it turned out really nice! Ever since I left though, I forgot how they did it. Thanks for the video!

  • I tried this out & it was perfect. Thank you.

  • This is pretty cool, but my attempts to wrap something this way has failed multiple times and my back hurts now.
